As the administrator for this site, and seeing how the election is over, I wanted to wrap up the comments with a few observations:
First, (as if we needed proof) I think it is safe to say we live in an era of post-journalism (as a number of commentators have already pointed out). There was nothing fair about the campaign… Obama’s mistakes were defended and ignored while irrelevant facts about the price of suits were front-page news. The media’s distaste for Palin was utterly apparent; as I mentioned to my friend, the animosity in the Couric interview was palpable. The objectivity of the media is no longer even a reasonable argument… and I’m glad conservatives are finally in this position. “We no longer owe them [the media] any respect” would be a crass but accurate way of putting things.
Secondly, I severely underestimated Palin… to my discredit. I think she bore well the responsibility of a nominee, and she did it with a smile and confidence–even when hope was lost. She transcended the media in a way… with a class I have formerly reserved only for the Buckley’s of the world. While I was outraged, she was unaffected; While I was furious, she was content… and appeared genuinely happy. In short, I would not have created this site had I been privy to this hindsight. Even now, I remain perplexed: how a woman this kind and sweet be so strong and resilient? It is an enigma to me.
What I know with certainty, however, is that Conservatism will live to fight another day. I am also certain that Conservatives face great hurdles and attacks as we continue our fight… and I fear things will get worse before they get better. However, I think we can all take some solace in Palin’s integrity… and learn much from her attitude–for her strengths we all must share and her struggles we all must endure.
Many thanks to each and every one of you who posted your thoughts. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to hear your thoughts and share your passion.

I agree that the media has been biased and unfair towards Gov. Palin.

I hope and agree with McCain on the Tonight Show that Sarah Palin will be
important in the future of our country and I support any of her future endeavors! M
It was the first time I had voted in a presidential campaign in 12 years. She is
inspiring and makes me proud to be an American! She will always have my support! Thank you for all you do, Sarah!
